Hello My Tribe,
Here we are, still journeying...separately together. Connected thorugh space and time, if not through place. These days it seems we are lucky if we get to add "place" into the mix.
Per usual, my path keeps leading me inward and then back out again, seeking the places connection is alive. All too often this surfaces through bodily movement. In fact, I am amazed at how it surprises me around every corner; leading me on a rapid search for healing beyond my own physical being–the topic of my next HumaningSousl blog post.
Does this ever happen to you too? Do you ever try to do that basic thing that this mass of energy you are carrying conistently needs–MOVE YOUR BODY–only to find a giant block of emotional pain jumping up to bite you? Has it ever stopped you cold in your tracks just when you thought the movement was supposed to be the healing action?
This is exactly the experience I had (often have) while long distance running this weekend. I run marathons, partly because of the positive effect it has on my mental and emotional health. So, when internal pain begins to work against me rather than for me, I start searching outside of myself for a way to cope, to keep moving.
This week, I found, well, my tribe. And that did the trick.
"Every time I started to run, the pain in my gut returned. Every time I connected with another human, it dissipated, a bit."
By paying close attention to my body, I watched the sensation come and go for my entire 14 mile training run on Saturday. When I returned home, these micro-observations emerged into Healing Through Connectivity: Moving Forward by Leaning In.
Moving into our bodies through exercise can and often does ignite chronic emotional pain lying just under the surface, even to the point of becoming debilitating. Sometimes, simply connecting with other humans provides immediate healing to keep us going – a message that has become all too evident during the COVID pandemic.
Because - "At our core, we are communal creatures."
Souls humaning together.
Be well my friends,
KathrynLeann
